Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It has many main branches: reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, craniofacial surgery (Cleft lip and palate), Microsurgery (nerve and microvascular surgery), burn surgery (Acute and chronic), and cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery aims to reconstruct a part of the body or improve its functioning, whereas cosmetic (or aesthetic) surgery aims at improving the appearance of it.
The department of Plastic surgery was set up in July 2018 in HITEC-IMS and HIT hospital, Taxila under the surgical and Allied department. Dr. Farhan Ahmed Eitezaz started the department after his appointment as a Senior Registrar. We have treated patients suffering from the entire wide spectrum of Plastic surgical problems including free tissue transfer.
Dr. Farhan is an enthusiastic, fully qualified plastic surgeon with academic performance at all levels of learning, committed to a future in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He underwent his plastic surgical training in Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad. He completed (FCPS Plastic Surgery) in a structured program of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. Dr. Farhan then proceeded to the UK for further specialist training in Microsurgery from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH-UK).
- To expand a Plastic surgical department and faculty that provides services for the management and treatment of the entire spectrum of Plastic surgery including a wide range of reconstructive & cosmetic, congenital, or acquired abnormalities, shape, and functional deficiencies/deformities procedures.
- To set up and expand a regular and well equipped Microvascular Tissue Transplantation (Free flaps) service complex soft tissue and bony reconstructions.
- The department also plans to get recognized for a full-time residency program in plastic and reconstructive surgery by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.
- Set up and run Multidisciplinary Team Clinics for cancer patients in liaison with all related specialties.
