FIRST CONVOCATION 2023

The inaugural convocation of HITEC-Institute of Medical Sciences, Taxila, for Medical College and Dental College, took place on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, at the HITEC-IMS Auditorium. This momentous occasion commemorated the graduation of the pioneer batches of MBBS and BDS students, signifying a milestone for both colleges. Gracing the event was the honourable President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi. Alongside esteemed guests including Vice Chancellor of NUMS, Lt Gen Wasim Alamgir HI (M), Chairman HIT Maj. Gen Shakir Ullah Khattak, HI(M), and other notable dignitaries.

A total of 85 medical and 44 dental graduates were conferred with MBBS and BDS degrees, respectively. The convocation ceremony not only acknowledged and celebrated their achievements but also marked the beginning of their professional journey as medical and dental practitioners.

During their welcome addresses, the Principals of the Dental College and Medical College expressed sincere gratitude for the dedication and tireless efforts exhibited by both the students and the faculty. They recognized the arduous academic journey of the graduates, highlighting their perseverance and determination.

Major General (R) Hamid Shafiq, Principal of Medical College, extended heartfelt appreciation to the distinguished guests for gracing the convocation ceremony with their presence, making it truly exceptional. He imparted valuable advice to the graduates, urging them to utilize their knowledge and skills to serve humanity.

Dr. Irfan Shah, Principal of Dental College HITEC, eloquently appraised the remarkable milestones achieved by Medical College & Dental College HITEC-IMS in a remarkably short span of time. Notably, the Institute has achieved an esteemed A Category ranking by PM&DC and has received recognition from CPSP for post-graduate residency programs. Furthermore, the institution proudly houses its own magazine, scientific journal, newsletter, and research yearbook.

Dr. Arif Alvi conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their parents for their remarkable achievements. He emphasized the pivotal role played by competent medical and dental professionals in the country’s healthcare system. Dr. Alvi conveyed that through focused efforts in the education and health sectors, Pakistan could excel within a few years. He also advised the young graduates to remain grateful to their teachers and parents for their unwavering support in shaping their bright futures.

A total of 23 gold, 23 silver, and 25 bronze medals were awarded to the MBBS class, while the BDS class received 27 gold, 25 silver, and 22 bronze medals. Dr. Muhammad Ali (MBBS) emerged as the best graduate of the session 2016-2021, attaining an exceptional record with 16 gold, 02 silver, 03 bronze medals, and 09 distinctions. Dr. Arooba Mehmood (BDS) was honoured as the best graduate of the session 2018-2022, having secured 15 gold medals, 03 silver medals, 02 bronze medals, and 08 distinctions.
