Anger Management Session: “Strategies for Emotional Wellbeing” – 2025

In line with HITEC Institute of Medical Sciences’ commitment to fostering holistic medical education and promoting the mental wellbeing of its students and faculty, a special lecture titled Anger Management, ”Strategies for Emotional Wellbeing” was organized.

The modern landscape of medical education presents numerous challenges — academic rigor, clinical responsibilities, and the emotional demands of patient care. These stressors often contribute to increased rates of burnout and emotional fatigue among medical students and healthcare professionals. Recent studies indicate that nearly 45–50% of medical students experience moderate to severe stress, and one in three report symptoms of irritability or emotional exhaustion. Recognizing the importance of addressing these concerns, this session was designed to provide practical strategies for emotional regulation and resilience.

The Principal Major General Hafeez Ud Din HI(M) Retd in his comments suggested the young audience to keep the Cool in highly stressful environment that it will help to gain emotional regulation and an increase in their emotional intelligence.

The Audience questioned that Anger in some ways is a necessary emotion that help to stand against the wrong doings and for yourself.

Assistant professor Hafiz Sultan Muhammad replied that one should remain assertive in such situations.

Key Objectives of the Session

  • To help participants identify personal triggers and stressors that lead to frustration or burnout.
  • To develop healthy coping mechanisms and effective communication strategies for emotionally charged situations.
  • To promote mindfulness, empathy and emotional intelligence within the academic and clinical environments.

Outcomes

The session emphasized the significance of emotional awareness and self-regulation as essential components of professional competence in healthcare. By integrating these principles into daily practice, participants can enhance their interpersonal relationships, improve patient interactions, and contribute to a more supportive and compassionate institutional culture.

This initiative reflects HITEC-IMS’s ongoing dedication to student wellbeing, faculty development, and professional growth, ensuring that future healthcare professionals are not only clinically competent but also emotionally resilient and empathetic caregivers.

Acknowledgment

The session was organized by the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Education, HITEC Institute of Medical Sciences, as part of its continuous efforts to promote mental health awareness and emotional wellbeing within the academic community. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Hafiz Sultan Mohammad Assistant professor psychiatry PIMS Hospital Islamabad, who provided evidence-based insights and practical tools for managing anger and maintaining emotional balance.
