Colorectal Cancer Awareness Session

On February 20, 2026, the Department of Community Medicine at HITEC-IMS, led by Prof. Dr. Aashi Ahmed, organized a Colorectal Cancer Awareness Session under the theme “Early Detection – New Direction – Cancer Awareness.” The program began with Quran recitation and an opening note by Assistant Professor Community Medicine Dr. Asifa Afzal. Fourth-year MBBS students presented on colorectal cancer epidemiology, screening, and prevention, followed by a role play highlighting timely screening. Distinguished guests included Maj Gen Prof Hafeez-Ud-Din HI(M) (Retd), Principal HITEC-IMS, and Brig (R) Dr. Riaz Anwar Bashir (HOD Surgery), who discussed treatment options. Professor Community Medicine Dr. Anwar Bibi shared a personal story underscoring the importance of awareness. The Principal concluded by commending students and stressing early detection as key to reducing the global burden of colorectal cancer.
