The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics conducted a workshop on “Rational Prescription Writing and Most Common Drug Interactions”, aimed at enhancing the prescribing skills and clinical awareness of healthcare professionals. The workshop placed strong emphasis on the principles of rational prescription writing, ensuring accuracy, safety, and cost-effectiveness in therapeutic decisions. A significant portion was dedicated to understanding and managing common drug interactions, which remain one of the most important yet preventable causes of adverse drug events and treatment failure.
The sessions were led by Prof. Dr. M. Munir Ahmad, Head of Department, and Prof. Dr. Shazana Rana, who shared their over the years experience and knowledge through interactive discussions, case studies, and real-world examples. Participants were guided on how to optimize prescribing practices and minimize the risks associated with drug interactions. The workshop provided not only academic enrichment but also a valuable platform for collaborative learning and evidence-based use of medicine.
